Result: an EDGE certification program was developed and implemented for a portfolio of 39 bank branches across the Republic of Uzbekistan, including technical strategies, energy- and water-efficiency measures, project support on the EDGE platform, preparation of certification documentation, and training of the bank’s team.
About the project
JSCB Uzpromstroybank (SQB) is implementing a large-scale program to improve the environmental and resource efficiency of its real estate.
As part of the project, HPBS supported the EDGE certification of 39 existing bank branches and branches under reconstruction located in different regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The work covered the entire cycle of preparing properties for certification: from analysis of the initial design and technical solutions to the selection of measures for improving energy and water efficiency, work with the EDGE platform, preparation of supporting documentation, and audit support.
The project makes it possible to apply green building principles not to a single building, but to an entire portfolio of bank properties, creating a unified approach to upgrading the branch network.
Our role
HPBS acts as consultant and technical coordinator for the EDGE certification program.
The HPBS team analyzes property documentation, identifies the most effective technical solutions for meeting EDGE requirements, coordinates interaction with design teams, and supports the properties as they prepare for and undergo certification.
A separate area of the project is the development of the internal competencies of SQB employees in green building, resource efficiency, and the requirements of the international EDGE standard.

Project results
The project established a unified approach for SQB to assess and improve the resource efficiency of its branch network.
Technical strategies were developed for the portfolio of 39 properties, enabling the systematic consideration of requirements relating to:

construction materials;

operational efficiency of buildings.
The portfolio approach allows the bank to use EDGE not only as a tool for certifying individual properties, but also as a basis for the consistent modernization of its own real estate and the development of internal green building practices.
The project also promotes the integration of sustainable development principles into the bank’s corporate infrastructure and supports the development of SQB’s competencies in green buildings and green finance.
Status: a portfolio-level EDGE certification program for the bank’s existing buildings and buildings under reconstruction across the Republic of Uzbekistan.
