New urban-planning initiatives
Tashkent plans to establish a creative park for architects and designers and launch a specialized university for urban studies, cadastre and geodesy.
The initiative is being implemented at the instruction of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and is aimed at developing a professional ecosystem in urban planning.
The creative park will serve as a platform for interaction between industry professionals and will provide tax benefits to residents. Similar projects are subsequently planned to be scaled up in the country’s regions.
From the new academic year, the capital will also open a specialized university and technical college focused on training specialists in urban studies, infrastructure and urban planning.
These initiatives are also aimed at the sustainable development of cities, including improving the quality of the urban environment, infrastructure and architectural solutions.
Urban planning and international projects
Particular attention is being paid to expanding the participation of local companies in international projects. The current portfolio of such projects involving international financial organizations exceeds $20 billion.
The Head of State emphasized the importance of elevating national companies to the level of general contractors, which will strengthen their positions in the international market.
This also opens up new opportunities to attract investment, introduce ESG approaches and improve the quality of infrastructure-project implementation.
