project image

Korzinka is a vast supermarket chain in Uzbekistan, owned by Anglesey Food. Established in 1996, it is one of the first retail chains in the Republic of Uzbekistan operating in various supermarket formats.

HPBS serves as the consultant and auditor for Anglesey Food in obtaining the EDGE certification (World Bank Group) for the Korzinka Distribution Center.

Our Responsibilities:

1. Support during Design and Construction:

  • Developing a technical strategy for certification.
  • Preparing evidence documentation for the audit at both the design and construction stages.

2. Conducting the EDGE Audit:

  • Preliminary certification during the design stage.
  • Final certification during the construction stage, including site visits by the auditor.

Achieving EDGE Certification:

By undergoing EDGE certification, the Distribution Center implements and meets criteria for water and energy savings, as well as reducing the carbon footprint of building materials. This approach ensures long-term climate resilience for the business.

The EDGE standard, developed by the IFC (International Finance Corporation) of the World Bank Group, promotes and simplifies the creation of green and sustainable buildings in developing countries. Achieving this certification allows for various benefits from international institutions. It also provides an accessible tool for obtaining green financing from local banks in Central Asia, as it aligns with the requirements of the Green Taxonomy.
